Queenstown

Sorry for not blogging lately. I can't really blame it on there nothing to be blogged about. I was just very lazy the last week! Anyways we arrived in wanaka (was a mandatory stop before Queenstown) and the girls (Emma, Kelsey, Alexis, and myself) separated from the boys. We had a good night talking and laughing and a little bit of screaming ;). The next morning we headed off to Queenstown. On the way we stopped and watch a couple bungi jumpers. I don't really like the idea of it but it was pretty cool to watch. We then made it to Queenstown. The city has beautiful surroundings but the actual city is a huge tourist trap. Everything is crazy expensive. We got settled in and did a couple things then decided to go out that night for one beer. One turned into two and two turned into three and before you know it me and Kelsey where signed up in a jello wrestling contest. It was actually a lot of fun once me and Kelsey wrestled (you had to take off their sock to win$ because it was an actual challenge. We made it to the final two where Kelsey won. It was all good though. I'm also glad to say that was my ONLY wild night. The rest of the time was sleeping and chillen and baking. We where there for about four days without the boys. When the boys showed up nothing really happened. That night we went out with the boys but I didn't stay out late because myself and Graeme where tired. The next day I believe I went rock climbing! On a real mountain! It was awesome! The next day me and Delton went on the Nevis Swing. It is the largest swig in the WORLD. It had a 300m arc and has a rope length of 120m. It was amazing. I was really scared when I first or there but then I just got more and more excited until finally me and Delton went. We went tandem which I'm very happy about. I'll be sending the DVD of pictures and video of the whole thing so my mom can put it on Facebook for me. :). That day Kelsey, Emma, Brendan, and Graeme went paragliding. Kelsey and Delton went the day before. I defiantly want to do that at some point in my life. Which brings us to today where we (excluding Emma and Alexis since they are wwoofing in Queenstown) moved on to Dunedin. Today was not a great day but that's ok because I'm hitting the hay EARLY tonight.

Nighty night.

Franz Josef

On the 17th Me and Graeme met up with Emma, Kelsey, Alexis, Delton, and Brendan in Greymouth since our second wwoofing place forgot us. We then went to Franz Josef glacier! We all did a full day hike on the Glacier. I took my actually camera so I'm sorry to say I have no pictures to post. We didn't get to go all the way to the top since its about a 2-3 day hike up! But we did walk about 12 km! It was great! Y ankles are killing me but totally worth it. I was hoping to go ice climbing but it was fully booked. If I have enough time after I may go back and do it. Other than that not much has happened. We leave Franz Josef tomorrow for Wanaka for one night then us girls are heading forward to Queenstown while the boys have some guy time. I'll post more later!

Missing everyone!!

Best Valentines Day

Yesterday was Valentines day. I can't remember if I've ever had a good Valentines day or one that didn't end up in tears. I was expecting it to be a good Valentines day but not as perfect as it actually was. It started with us working until two. We then stuck around the hostel till about 4:30 so I could get a pie which the hostel provides every Tuesday, Wednesday , and Thursday. After I had my yummy pie me and Graeme went on a walk to find a nice place to have a supper out which Graeme's mother provided for us. Thanks! We ended up at a nice Indian restaurant. Not only did we get a fantastic meal but also an appetizer. Already so much better than my last V day. Then we walked by the river and sat down and just had a nice talk. We then went back to the hostel and I had a shower. Once done I went into our room where Graeme was laying on the bed looking very pleased with himself. It took me about a full minuet to realize that he had laid out a bottle of wine, the chocolate covered strawberries I made him, a candle, two wine glasses, and my kobo. I turned on my kobo which had a nice little message for me and also the complete collection of the Lord of the Rings books. I have been complaining about how I can't read it till everyone else finishes. Alexis bought the books in a second hand shop and I'm last in line to read it. I couldn't believe he had done that for me. :). He knows me very well. We then had a glass of wine and the strawberries. To me this was the perfect Valentines day. :)

Working Gal

So today was the 5th day of working in a hostel. I think I could do without. The free accommodation is great though! Mostly I just strip beds and then wash the bedding then put it right back on. Nothing exciting.Me and Graeme will be staying here till the 15th and then we have another place lined up! It's really exciting to know that I'll be working on a real wwoofing farm. We were lucky enough to have the hostel managers friend to come by and ask us if we would like to work for him. And be PAID! :). So my days are filled with working and then relaxing, maybe make a muffin or two. We are also working with Three other people who are wwoofing here. Two from Sweden and one from France. They are all lovely people and I'm very glad that they are working with us. There isn't anything really special here in Greymouth. There are a couple of nice short hikes but nothing really grand. It's a small town where all the shops are closed on Sundays. It's a nice getaway from all the cities. All for now!

Cheers!
